Growing food
I have a huge passion for fresh herbs. They are beautiful, gentle and are the perfect example of how nature operates.
There's nothing like growing your own fresh herbs and veggies. And it's easy and simple too.
Nowadays, you can easily find fresh herbs at your local grocery shop. But there is nothing like growing your own. Picking up a delicate branch of freshly caught parsley or cilantro to add aroma to your dishes, there is nothing like it.
The great news is that it is simple and easy to grow your own fresh herbs in your own kitchen window. You don’t need to have a backyard or even a balcony. In just a vase, some water and enough light, your kitchen will gain life and will be enriched by the sprinkles of green that come from the delicate herbs.
Essential herbs for cooking delicious meals
Some of the fresh herbs I grow in my kitchen window are:
· Cilantro
· Parsley
· Rosemary
· Chives
· Mint
· Sage
You’ll need good soil, terracotta or plastic vases, plates and, of course, seeds. You can also dip the stem of your favorite herbs and dip them in water so they gain root and later transplant them into the vase.
Although seeds are supposed to be planted in specific times of the year, I love to test and try. So we often just plant to see what happens. And we have had beautiful surprises.
Get your seeds of your favorite herbs and plant them in small vases. I once put cilantro seeds on top of the soil, without pressing them deep into the soil and a few weeks later... SURPRISE!!! I had a whole new jar full of cilantro, that I love to display in my salads. Gives that extra kick to every meal.
